How to make sex for the first time less awkward?

Hey guys, me and my girlfriend talked to the other day, and she said she is ready for sex, but im afraid its going to be very awkward because it would be the first time for both of us. What can i do to make it less awkward the first time? What did you guys/girls do the first time to make it go smooth?

don't have wild expectations, accept that it will be awkward, messy and strange. Have a sense of humor about without getting too goofy.
